Well we’ve been neglecting the blog for awhile… again, so I’d like to apologize and of course explain what’s been going on around here to cause such neglect.

First let me say that we are still understaffed but circumstances dictate we soldier on as, in truth we are currently not in a position to take on the help needed, this is a situation that we hope to rectify in the near future.

As for the goings on at FreeArticlesInc, keep a look out for our new and improved software… that’s right, we will soon be launching version 2.0 of our software which addresses many of the bugs and issues of the current version. We are at the moment conducting tests on the new software and things are going very well so-far therefore we hope to get it up and running on the site in a week or two after this post.

Along with the new software will come a bunch of exciting new features, I won’t go into details here but I’m sure our members and visitors will be very happy with these additions not to mention pleasantly surprised… well let’s hope! in addition to the software upgrade will be a complete revamp of our site design, we are sure the new, more visually pleasing, faster loading and user friendly interface will be welcomed by all.

That’s about it for now, I will announce the launch of the new site via this blog and press release at least 48hrs in advance, so please remember to come back soon.

If you own a website, blog, newsletter or any other type of online or even print media publication and you are not writing articles and submitting them to multiple “Article Directories” then you are missing out on the one of the best ways to promote your publication.

By offering other publishers access to your unique and original article content you rapidly build search engine friendly back-links to your site, first of all you get back-links immediately from the directories on which your articles are published, if your work is well written and constructed and the information you provide is relevant and up to date then publisher download your articles for re-publication on their own sites and publications, this is known as “Syndication”.

As more and more publishers become aware of your work more of them will use your articles on their site etc. thereby creating more back-links and pretty soon the whole thing compounds into tons of high quality search engine friendly links, so the more you write and submit the higher your ranking will eventually be.

Of course that’s not to say there are no pitfalls to this method of gathering back-links, one issue is… many article directories have hundreds of thousands of articles… so how do you get yours noticed by publishers, another thing you must be aware of is the duplicate content issue, search engines do not like too much of the same thing a often penalize offenders, I will discuss both these issues in depth in upcoming posts.

Many “Gurus” say it’s best to make all your submissions to the top ranked directories, this seems like a fair strategy on the surface however, particularly if you are new to article writing you should consider submitting to smaller, newer and lower ranked directories as they are often hungry for both articles and traffic which means they are willing to work a little harder for your article I.E. fix occasional spelling errors which may get your article declined on other directories, however this should not be taken as giving you carte blanch to submit poor quality and un-proofed work, they will at some point be rejected.

Another advantage to smaller directories is that there databases are smaller which means your work is more likely to make it into featured areas such as “Top Lists” or “Latest Submissions” and will most probably show prominently in their RSS feeds, so what this means is you have the opportunity to become a big fish in a small pond very quickly, especially if you submit articles on a regular basis, writing a single article and submitting to one site won’t get you very far, a better idea is to start by writing and submitting six to ten varied and original articles and submitting them to six or more directories, say a couple of top ranked and the rest lower ranked or newer directories then writing and submitting two or three articles per week, this method should see you developing lots of back-links and gaining page ranking on search engines very quickly.

Our sinsere appologies to authors and visitors who may have been inconvenienced over the last couple of days due to our site being offline, this was caused by issues with our server.

As an environmentally conscientious company FreeArticlesInc uses only “Green” servers this means our hosting company gets it’s power from environmentally friendly, renewable sources such as Wind and Solar generators, unfortunately this means they are occasionally susceptible to certain atmospheric and extreme weather conditions.

It would seem and, our server provider assures us this was the cause of the recent interruption in service, severe weather conditions caused most of the network to intermittently go down.

While we feel such rare problems are a fair exchange for doing what we can to lessen our environmental impact, please rest assured we will be working with our server providers and with third party solution providers to ensure such disruptions will be kept to an absolute minimum in the future.

Thank you

When submitting articles to an Articles Directory it is crucial that you check your spelling, nothing sticks out quite so much like a sore thumb to the the reader of your article as poor spelling.

Grammar, Punctuation and Composition are all very important but the first thing a reader will notice are those spelling mistakes and not only the more mundane typos such as ‘fro’ instead of ‘for’ or ‘frie’ as opposed to ‘fire’ but those errors in spelling which are common, such as putting ‘e’ before ‘i’ when it should be the other way around I.E. ‘freind’ in place of ‘friend’ or even visa verse. As authors perhaps we need to take a lesson from the carpenters handbook, which states “measure twice, cut once” perhaps we should say “spellcheck twice, before submitting”.

Submitting articles which have not been thoroughly checked for spelling errors is a sure way to find your work being rejected by the editorial staffs of most directories. I truth with most directories providing wysiwyg word processor input boxes with built in spellcheck capabilities there is no real excuse for submitting articles with spelling errors.
